Vernon James Billups comes to Hanover after transferring from the Hill toppers of WKU. Thankfully, he landed in Coach Miller’s hands as he has transformed into a vital part of the team’s success. He has great outside range and does not mind to crash the boards as well. We sat down with VJ (his nickname) and were able to learn more about VJ and what his favorite parts of Hanover are, and also the ins and outs of playing basketball here at Hanover College.

1.      What made you come to Hanover College?

I chose Hanover College because of the strong sense of community and the academic programs offered that provide your future with unlimited opportunities and possibilities.

2.     What is your favorite part of playing at Hanover?

My favorite part about playing at Hanover first and foremost is having the opportunity to compete in the sport I love with men I have and will continue to form a lifelong brotherhood with.  I love wearing a Hanover jersey and knowing I am competing not only for my teammates, my coaches, myself, and even the school, but for all of those who have put in the same hard work and dedication in the past.

3.     What is the best pregame meal you have had here?

I love the pregame traditions at HC: starting with a great pregame meal, then the pregame music to get you in your zone. This is followed up by the energy we create within our circle right before stepping onto the court. Lastly, I enjoy that last time before each game that we huddle up together and declare what our goal for the night is.
